Birth Preparation

A new and challenging period awaits you. As a mother you will have to manage many things. It is important to take responsibility for another human being, even if it is a small one! It will make your life easier if you make sure you have everything organized before the day arrives.

Preparing for the birth of your newborn baby will be one of the most exciting parts of your pregnancy! There is so much to do in just 9 months! Don’t feel overwhelmed, everything can be solved with a little planning. Here you can find birth preparation tips on what you might need for your newborn baby:

Baby clothes

All the baby clothes are so cute and have an incredible charm… Remember that your happiness will grow rapidly. It’s the same with every baby! You too will probably receive gift dresses for your baby from friends and family. Everyone is seduced by baby clothes, because they are really irresistible. Because your baby will grow so fast in the early stages, he or she will hardly wear those gorgeous clothes you bought, and some baby clothes will even shrink before they can be worn.

Baby diapers

You will change your baby’s diapers 10-12 times a day. We recommend that you stock up on diapers in preparation for the birth. Also, don’t forget to buy diaper bags and baby wipes.

Nutrition supplies

Don’t forget to add a breast pad to your birth preparation list, as leaks from your breasts can start before you give birth. If you plan to newborn breastfeed, you may need breast cream and hot or cold breast therapy packs that can be used for many conditions (such as inflammation, mastitis, engorgement or to speed up your milk flow). You may need a nipple extractor if your nipple is flat or inverted. If you plan to express your milk, you can use 3 types of pumps: manual breast pump, single electric breast pump and double electric breast pump. These pumps are great and very easy to use. Moreover, they support the production of breast milk.

You will also need breast milk storage products, such as breast milk storage bags or bottles, which allow you to store breast milk in the fridge or freezer. If you plan to include your spouse or other family members in your baby’s diet, you will need a bottle. You should not introduce your baby to a bottle before breastfeeding! Since babies’ sucking patterns will be established within 6-8 weeks, you can leave the bottle feeding process to this period. It is also important for you to choose a bottle that will not affect your baby’s sucking pattern and will not make your baby refuse to breastfeed. Sterilizers and bottle warmers that you can use at home will also be very useful for you!

Putting the baby to sleep

For the first few months you will need a bassinet, a cot or a flat crib. For the first 6 months your baby needs to sleep in a warm and safe place – your room. You will need a firm and safe mattress, sheets and a light blanket on your birth preparation list. Sleeping bags are also recommended as they reduce the risk of blankets sneaking over the baby’s head. Don’t overlook this when preparing for birth!

Baby washing

For the first few weeks you will only bathe your baby with water, but you can also stock up on natural and organic cleaning products for later. A bath thermometer is also a handy item to make sure the water is not too hot or too cold. You should also include a bathtub and a mesh or soft bathtub mattress to help you bathe your baby easily.

Walking the baby

Spend time on outings that are suitable for your baby. During the outing, you can use a baby carrier bag where your baby will enjoy being close to you and your warmth. Choose a bag that is protected and holds your baby’s head well and learn about the use of a baby carrier. A stroller is suitable for small babies. If it has a seat that can be opened so that the baby can lie on its back. Strollers, on the other hand, give your baby more space to sit and lie down comfortably, but they are difficult to use on public transportation and babies grow quickly and can’t use them after a while. Another option is to buy a baby carrier bag with wheels and combine all 3 functions. If you have a car, you will need a car seat for your baby. Babies should always sit in that seat. Even when being brought home from the hospital! You can also identify your needs during the birth preparation process and organize your list accordingly.

Other Important Information You Need to Know in Preparing for Childbirth:

You will need a handy multi-compartment bag! With the birth of your baby, you will buy a lot of trinkets. So you need to allocate a bag for everything that is essential. Allocate one bag with a changing mat and wet wipes. You can choose a bag with many compartments or a simple plain bag. You will also need a cloth towel. You will use the cloth towel both to protect your clothes from the baby’s drool and because it creates a soft surface for the rest of your baby’s head.

Important tips for preparing for childbirth

It is a good idea to have a tidy home before the baby is born. Babies may be small, but when they arrive at home they can be a whirlwind. Another thing that will help you in this process is to cook a lot of food and keep it stocked in the freezer. You won’t have to worry about not being able to go to the supermarket or not being able to cook for the first few weeks.
